Bio

Thomas (Tom) Gordon is an expert in strategic physician relationships, medical groups and health system medical network, leadership and team/ culture development.

In Tom's role as an XCO Senior Partner, he brings deep expertise and proven experience drawn from his 32-year career as SVP of Cedars-Sinai Health System and CEO of Cedars-Sinai Medical Network Services, based in Los Angeles. While there, Tom built a medical network that grew to a size of more than 1,000 physicians, providers and specialists, along with more than 1,000 staff members. Under his leadership, the network served more than 150,000 fee-for-service and managed care patients. He added dozens of important strategic ventures/ affiliations, and he expanded the network as Cedars-Sinai expanded geographically. Additionally, Tom oversaw the organization's MSO including the administrative functions of the Cedars-Sinai Medical Care Foundation, Cedars-Sinai Medical Group, Cedars-Sinai Health Associates (IPA), Cedars-Sinai Inpatient Specialty Practices, the California Heart Center, Tower Hematology Oncology, Los Angeles Cardiology Associates, the Angeles Clinic and Research Institute, Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Center, Santa Monica Orthopedic Group, and Valley Internal Medicine.

As an XCO expert partner, in 2017 Tom supported the development of Intermountain Healthcare's Advanced Leadership Program. Also, in 2020 and 2021, he has been a senior advisor to the CEO, SVP, CMOs and other executive leaders at Community Medical Centers (CMC) in Central California, helping to advance physician partnerships, establish a provider and practice support infrastructure, form a new medical foundation, and ultimately help to advance CMC's integrated healthcare delivery system.

Tom is dedicated to the healthcare community and serves on a variety of boards including the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, Partners Bank of California and The Brentwood School. Tom is an adjunct professor at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, teaching the Culture and Leadership class. Also, he is an active member of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) and the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).

In 2015, Tom joined the Strategy Advantage team as an XCO Senior Partner. In this role, he is available as a 1:1 executive-to-executive partner for leaders changing healthcare.
