Bio

Timothy Garcia-Jay (Tim Jay) is an expert in growing and improving health system-based medical groups, including large and small specialty practices and multi-specialty physician groups.

In Tim's role as an X∙CO Partner, he brings deep expertise and proven experience drawn from his expansive career guiding northern Nevada/ California medical groups, working side-by-side with physicians and both leading and supporting their administrative teams. Tim started his career with Group Health Cooperative in Seattle. Later, at Saint Mary's Health Network in Reno, he laid the groundwork for Saint Mary's Medical Group, now with more than 100 providers across 7 specialties and 10 locations. Additionally, Tim was Vice President for the Human Motion Institute, bringing orthopedic expertise to hospitals across the United States; CEO of the Sierra Neurosurgery Group; Executive Director of the Tahoe Forest Health System, including its Cancer Center; and VP/ Executive Director of IntegraMedAmerica, one of the largest networks of fertility centers across America. Tim also previously ran his own consulting companies, Pillar Consulting and VegvisirHealthcare Partners, providing strategic and innovative solutions for many medical groups looking for opportunities to expand their presence in current and new markets.

As an X∙CO expert partner, in 2020 Tim started supporting Community Medical Center's new medical foundation set-up, specifically providing both EPIC-based operational expertise, along with physician clinic-based improvement initiatives.

Tim received his bachelor's degree in applied economics from the University of Nevada, a master's degree in healthcare administration from the University of Washington and is currently pursuing a second master's degree in legal studies from the University of Oklahoma. In addition, Tim has been active with MGMA both locally and nationally as well as with ACHE and the California Critical Access Hospital Network. He has served as a board member for the Summit Surgery Center and the Truckee Surgery Center. Personally, Tim serves on the Board of Directors for Wildwood Open Lands Foundation (WOLF) and is an avid fly fisherman and outdoor enthusiast.

In 2020, Tim joined the Strategy Advantage team as an X∙CO Partner. In this role, he is available as a 1:1 executive-to-executive partner for leaders changing healthcare.
